Recently (-not!) I've been aware that the cause of my (extreme) menstrual pains/cramps is due to the cysts in both of my ovaries. These cysts are sometimes referred to as "chocolate cysts" as per how they look or their color are seen. These cysts are formed due to heavy menstrual flow causing "backflow" of menstrual blood into the walls of the ovaries.
I underwent "transrectal ultrasound (UTZ)" to check on the size of the mass and also to somehow ruleout cancer (cancerous mass doesn't have smooth surfaces, they may come in different sizes and they sure to have rough surfaces since its an abnormal proliferation of cells). We found out its about 2cm already and Doctor said these sizes are candidate for operation already. I never thought it would come this far. I thought I'd survive living without getting confined in the hospital or rather get operated. So I sought for other options. She gave me three:
1.) Laparoscopic removal of the cysts where only three tiny holes (about a centimeter sized incision) are involved.
2.) Luprolex Therapy.
3.) Pregnancy.
Obviously, 3 is out of my options! I'm still young and unstable. My boyfriend is still in his medical school and I don't want to ruin that beautiful picture of me and a handsome doctor husband! So I was thinking of option 2. Until I finally decided to go for Luprolex therapy did my tita found this weird document about untold stories of Lupron Therapy. I was very thankful my aunt found it before i had my initial dose. Gawd! So I guess I only have option one left!
What I don't like about surgeries are anesthesia and getting catheterized. So today is the start of my Ovarian Cyst Journey wherein i have to overcome my fear of getting catheterized! The hell.
Time is ticking and I'm here in front of my computer, blogging. crazy biatch.
